THE POWER OF BEING ENCOURAGING

These past few years I learned about the importance of being encouraging. But only several months ago I started to practice it. I feel a huge difference in my life; it helps me to have a deeper relationship with people. It makes my life more meaningful. Some people said we only need to show encouragement when our friend needs extra help or support. I don’t agree with that, in fact, we need to show it every time. It should be a part of our daily conversation. When our friend does an excellent job, inviting us to dinner, listening to our stories, gets a new project – say something to them. Always remember to be specific when you praise someone’s abilities and accomplishments. Remember to encourage even the smallest effort.

Some examples to show encouragement:

“Thanks for letting me express myself.”

“Congratulations for (…..). I’m so proud of you!”

“Thanks for having me at the dinner today; I had a lot of fun.”

“I’m so inspired by your heart. You taught me (….)”

“I’m so glad to have you in my life.”

“Thanks for not judging me.”

“You did an amazing job at (….); I learned a lot!”

“I appreciate that you (….)”

Being encouraging helps me to always see the positive side of a person instead of the negatives. Always think positively, and look for things to encourage. Trust me; it will build our character.

Ephesians 4:29

“Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.”

Now let’s make a list of people that you want to encourage. Think about their strength and all the things he/she has done for you. Write them a sweet little note to make someone’s day better.
